Propitas were recently appointed as Building Owner’s surveyor by HCA International, in connection with the construction of a new bunker and radiotherapy suites at this Grade II listed building and clinic on Harley Street. The project is part of the client’s ongoing commitment to provide vital cancer diagnosis and treatment to their patients.

Planning consent had already been obtained and orders placed for the new state-of-the-art radiotherapy equipment, which meant working closely with the project team to ensure timescales were met to deliver on a tight programme.

The works included significant excavations to provide sufficient depth for the new bunker and underpinning to each of the party walls, requiring us to deal with numerous adjoining owner interests. Our role, as Building Owner’s surveyor, involved serving requisitory notices to ensure compliance, preparing schedules of condition to document the current condition of the adjoining owners’ properties and serve as a baseline for assessing any potential damage during the works, and negotiating and agreeing the various Party Wall Awards. The works have commenced on site and the new suites are due to be completed next year.
